Plasma Arc Speaker (Hobby)

I am building a plasma arc speaker using Proto G’s design. I named this project “бір мың құс” and engraved it on a wooden platform with a soldering iron. The name means “One Thousand Birds” in my language for the peculiar sound the plasma arc makes. It is a tribute to Sasuke’s Chidori which bears the same name in Japanese haha 🙂

I got to produce arcs, however, I need to fix the sound modulation to be able to play music with it. I am hoping to finish this project sometime soon.

FALL 2020 EDIT // I played some Metallica on it! :

The result is pretty anti-climactic, but it works haha! I am thinking that using an aluminum foil as one of the electrodes might move more air if it resonates somewhere at 10kHz.
